Life has a way of catching us off guard. Plans fall apart, things shift quickly, and some days feel way heavier than others. When we are in those moments, it is not always clear what we need. We just know we cannot handle it all by ourselves. The truth is, that feeling of needing help is not a weakness. It points us to who we need most.

In Week 5 of the series “The Jesus I Need,” Richie Brown shares from the heart about what it means to truly lean on Jesus during the messy parts of life. At Amarillo Fellowship Church, we have been walking through this series together. It has helped us learn to recognize Jesus in the middle of the ordinary and the painful. This post walks through some of those moments when Jesus meets us right where we are, even when we feel stuck or unsure how to move forward.

When Everything Feels Like Too Much

Let’s be honest, life is not always easy. School can pile on the pressure, friendships get messy, and family life does not always go the way we want. Some weeks feel like one struggle stacked on top of another, and we are just trying to hold it all together.

In times like that, it is okay not to have answers. It is okay not to fix everything. One of the biggest truths we hold onto is that Jesus brings peace, even when nothing else changes. That peace does not always mean everything gets quiet or easy. Sometimes, it just means we do not feel so alone anymore. When we start to recognize that Jesus is near in the middle of our stress or heartbreak, we stop trying to “solve” everything and start resting in Him.

At Amarillo Fellowship Church, everyone is welcome, no matter your story, background, or current season. You’ll find a multi-generational church community focused on being real and doing life together. Worship takes place Sundays at 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM, with messages designed to help all ages find hope together.

It is not about having a perfect response to life’s problems. It is about saying, “I cannot do this by myself,” and knowing Jesus is not asking us to. He never has.

Looking for the Real Jesus

A lot of people talk about Jesus, but sometimes the version we hear about does not feel helpful or kind. Maybe we grew up thinking He was mostly about rules. Or maybe we were told we had to be better before coming to Him.

But the real Jesus does not work like that. He meets us exactly where we are, not after we have cleaned up or figured things out. Richie Brown shared how easy it is to hold onto ideas about Jesus that are not totally true. Real change starts when we let those ideas go and look for who Jesus really is.

Jesus cares, even when we feel like a mess. He does not ask us to fake it. When we understand that, we stop pretending and start connecting. Instead of pushing Him away because we are not perfect, we let Him close because He already knows the truth and loves us anyway.

Ways Jesus Shows Up in Our Lives

Jesus does not just stick around for Sunday mornings or moments when we pray. He shows up in the middle of everyday life, on the bus, during a stressful test, while we are doing chores, or when we are sitting in silence at the end of a long day.

We have seen how He speaks to us in simple, quiet ways. Maybe it is a thought that brings calm, a reminder during worship, or just a small moment where we feel less alone. That is not getting lucky. That is Jesus showing up and being who He always promises to be.

When we press into prayer or worship, especially when it feels hard, we start to notice His presence a little more. It is not that He comes once we do something “right.” It is more like we finally slow down enough to notice He never left.

Here are a few ways we have experienced God’s presence in everyday life:

  • A scripture verse showing up right when it is needed
  • A kind word from someone that brings unexpected encouragement
  • A worship song that hits differently after a hard week

These are reminders that we are not doing life on our own.

Trusting Jesus When It’s Not Easy

It is one thing to talk about faith when everything is going well. It is something else when things fall apart. When we are dealing with doubts, waiting on answers, or feeling like nothing is changing, that is when trust gets real and hard.

We have all had prayers that felt unanswered. Questions that did not clear up. Seasons that dragged on. Richie talked about how Jesus stays right next to us in that space. He is present when we are tired. He is not waiting for us to fake a smile or pretend everything is okay.

Trusting Jesus does not mean never questioning anything. It means staying close, even when we do. It is believing He is there, even if we do not feel it all the time. That kind of trust takes patience, but it also brings comfort. We are reminded we do not need perfect faith, just a real one.

Hope That Holds Us Together

Sometimes, what is around us does not change. The same problems stay, the same questions repeat. But something in us starts to shift. That is the power of knowing Jesus for who He really is.

He gives us a steadiness that does not come from having all the answers. He gives us courage when the future feels shaky. Small Groups at Amarillo Fellowship Church are available throughout the week, helping people share real life, ask questions, and grow through community support. When Richie Brown talked about that deep kind of hope, we were reminded that it is never about doing life by ourselves. It is about knowing we never have to.

The Jesus we need is not far off. He is right here, in our everyday moments. He is the same when things are falling apart or falling into place. As we keep walking forward, we hold onto the truth that His kind of hope changes everything, not by fixing it all, but by staying close through it all.

Continuing the Journey of Faith

At Amarillo Fellowship Church, we are learning just how much we need that kind of Jesus, and we are thankful we do not have to look very far. There are opportunities for every age to experience hope and community, whether it is in Sunday worship, kids and youth programs, or adult small groups designed to help you walk through every season of life.
